Dr. William L. Chambers has been a pediatric dentist for over 42 years. He attended the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry at Chapel Hill where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree. In addition, he completed his degree in pediatric dentistry, along with a Master of Science, from the University of North Carolina. Dr. Chambers has excelled in his specialty and is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist. He also has in-depth training and experience in dental growth and development and interceptive orthodontics.
Dr. Chambers is a member of such organizations as the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and the North Carolina Association of Pediatric Dentistry. A dedicated professional, Dr. Bill strives to provide all of his patients with the most comprehensive and advanced pediatric dental care available.
Dr. William L. Chambers is the founder of Great Smiles Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics and has been serving families across Asheville and Western North Carolina as a pediatric dentist for over 42 years. He attended the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry at Chapel Hill, where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree, followed by a specialty degree in pediatric dentistry and a Master of Science, also from UNC. Dr. Bill is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist with extensive training in dental growth and development and interceptive orthodontics. He is a proud member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and the North Carolina Association of Pediatric Dentistry.
Before his career in dentistry, Dr. Bill was a scholarship athlete at UNC Chapel Hill, playing as a forward on the basketball team that won the 1971 NIT Championship and earned a bid to the 1972 NCAA Final Four. For over four decades, Dr. Bill has been a trusted name in pediatric dental care for children and families throughout Asheville, Weaverville, Waynesville, Marion, Sylva, and the surrounding WNC communities.

During college, Dr. Bill Chambers was a scholarship athlete as a forward on the University of North Carolina’s basketball team. This UNC team won a 1971 NIT Championship and a bid to 1972 NCAA’s Final Four. Alumni from that team got together to discuss their memories.

Dr. Doug Pratt, DDS, PA, Diplomate

Dr. Douglas B. Pratt is a Board Certified Specialist in in Pediatric and Adolescent Dentistry and one of the most beloved pediatric dentists serving families in Asheville and Western North Carolina. He earned both his undergraduate degree and his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After dental school, Dr. Doug completed a residency in Advanced General Dentistry andand served four years as a dentist in the US Army. His passion for treating children led him to pursue additional specialized training, completing a two-year post-doctoral residency in Pediatric Dentistry at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. Dr. Doug and his wife Samantha are proud members of the Asheville community, raising their four children here in Western North Carolina. You can often find them at soccer games, hiking the trails of WNC, or cheering on local youth sports. His motto says it all: “Where Excellence, Dentistry, and Fun Collide.” His goal is simple: to make every child who walks through our doors in Asheville, Weaverville, Marion, Waynesville, or Sylva genuinely love coming to the dentist.

Dr. Douglas B. Pratt received both his Undergraduate degree and his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Upon graduation from dental school, Dr. Pratt completed a residency in Advanced General Dentistry and practiced general dentistry for four years. Treating children was always Dr. Doug’s passion as a general dentist, yet he wasn’t satisfied with the level of care he could provide children and their parents. Always striving for excellence, he completed a post-doctoral residency in Pediatric Dentistry at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. During his education, he has been taught by some of the leaders in growth and development, child management, and children’s oral health. Prior to joining Great Smiles, Dr. Doug was an associate for three years in private Pediatric Dental practice.
Dr. Doug is the proud father of three girls, twins Shayne and Rylee, and their little sister Kate. They love spending time together and can often be found at soccer games, swim practices, hiking, or just having fun at the local playground.
You and your child will find Dr. Doug to be kindhearted, gentle, and knowledgeable in a comforting way. His motto is, ‘Where Excellence, Dentistry, and Fun Collide’ and his goal is to make your child LOVE coming to the dentist.
Dr. Stephanie Chambers, DDS, MS, MSD, PA, Diplomate

Dr. Stephanie Chambers was born and raised right here in Asheville, NC, and is proud to carry on her family’s legacy at Great Smiles. She attended Estes Elementary, Valley Springs Middle School, and TC Roberson High School before going on to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for college and dental school. During dental school, Dr. Stephanie received the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Pre-doctoral Student Award for Outstanding Promise in the Field of Pediatric Dentistry. She then completed a two-year pediatric dental residency at Ohio State University and Nationwide Children’s Hospital, earning a Master of Science degree, followed by additional specialized training in Orthodontics at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she earned a second Master of Science degree in Dentistry. Dr. Stephanie is one of just a few actively practicing dual-trained specialists in both Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics in the United States, and she is proud to bring that expertise to families across Asheville and Western North Carolina. She is married to Dr. Paul Blackman, also an orthodontist at Great Smiles, and together they are raising three children, Brooks, Koko, and Bodie, in the Asheville community they love.

After dental school, Dr. Stephanie completed a two-year pediatric dental residency at the Ohio State University and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. During her pediatric dental residency, she received extensive training in hospital dentistry as well as complex craniofacial and special needs patients. She earned a Master of Science Degree from The Ohio State University and in 2014, became a Board Certified Diplomate of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Stephanie then attended the Medical University of South Carolina to receive additional specialized training in Orthodontics and obtained an additional Master of Science Degree in Dentistry. Dr. Stephanie is proud to be one of just a few actively practicing dual-trained specialists in Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics in the United States.
Dr. Stephanie is married to Dr. Paul Blackman who is also an orthodontist with Great Smiles. They have three children – Brooks, Koko, and Bodie – as well as two husky dogs – Luna and Kai. She stays active playing basketball, tennis, running, hiking, and swimming. She spends her free time participating in charitable local community partnerships and volunteer events.
Dr. Paul Blackman, DMD, MSD, PA
Orthodontist
Dr. Paul Blackman considers himself fortunate to practice orthodontics in one of the most beautiful cities in the world and is proud to call Asheville, NC home. His passion for creating beautiful smiles and his love for the Western North Carolina community are evident from the moment you meet him. Dr. Paul was born and raised in Cheraw, SC, and grew up immersed in the world of dentistry, with six family members who are dentists. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC, and went on to complete his Doctorate of Dental Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. During dental school, Dr. Paul served as President of the American Student Dental Association and as a student liaison to the South Carolina Dental Board. He was awarded the Pierre Fauchard Academy Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Academic Achievement and Leadership. Dr. Paul is married to Dr. Stephanie Chambers and together they are raising their family in Asheville, where they are deeply involved in the local community. He is proud to serve patients seeking orthodontic care across Asheville, Weaverville, Waynesville, Marion, and Sylva.

After dental school, Dr. Paul completed an additional three-year orthodontic residency at The Medical University of South Carolina College of Dental Medicine, Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
Over the years, Dr. Paul has mastered the esthetic development of smiles through the use of Invisalign, clear aligner orthodontics. Dr. Paul not only emphasizes how beautiful a smile can be but also how the teeth can improve facial contours and esthetics. Due to his expertise in clear aligner orthodontics and facial esthetics, Dr. Paul has had patients travel from Philadelphia, California, New Mexico, and even Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Paul feels fortunate to practice orthodontics in one of the greatest cities in the world and could not be more thankful than to be somewhere as beautiful as Asheville. Dr. Paul’s passion for life and creating beautiful smiles is evident when you meet him.
Dr. Stephen Chadwick, DDS, MSD, MPH, PA, Diplomate

Dr. Stephen G. Chadwick is a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill. Upon graduation, Dr. Chadwick dentist completed a general practice residency in Hampton, Virginia. He then practiced general dentistry for four years in Northern California while serving as the Dental Director of a community health center. It was during this time Dr. Stephen realized his passion for treating children and adolescents and decided to pursue specialized training in this field. He completed a pediatric dental residency and received a Master of Science in Dentistry and a Master of Public Health from the University of Washington where he still serves as the Access to Baby and Child Dentistry Coordinator. Dr. Chadwick is a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, North Carolina Dental Society, and the Buncombe County Dental Society.
Dr. Stephen was born and raised in Charlotte, NC and after eight years on the West Coast was excited to return home to raise his family in Western North Carolina. During their free time, Dr. Stephen and his family enjoy hiking, backpacking, sailing, and spending time together.

Dr. Jon Wyble, DMD, Diplomate

Dr. Jon is an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Following graduation, he returned to his home state to complete a two-year residency in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Florida. During his training, Dr. Wyble worked with a broad variety of pediatric patients, including those with special needs and those requiring hospital dentistry and medically-complex care. He is fluent in Spanish and greatly enjoys treating children of all backgrounds. Dr. Wyble is certified through the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the North Carolina Dental Society, and the Buncombe County Dental Society.
Dr. Wyble and his wife, Abby, moved to Asheville in 2019 where he is now a pediatric dentist near you and absolutely love their new home! The Wybles enjoy hiking, traveling, exploring the city, and taking their dog, Iggy, on all sorts of adventures. Dr. Jon enjoys playing golf and soccer, although he also loves watching football and basketball as an avid fan of the Auburn Tigers.

Dr. Laura Hogue, DDS
Pediatric Dentist
Dr. Laura P. Hogue has over 30 years of private practice experience treating children, adolescents, and patients with special needs. As a pediatric dentist, she enjoys being an advocate for a child’s dental health and well-being. Dr. Laura says it’s very rewarding to watch a child develop into a wonderful young adult. She has spent most of her life in Louisiana, graduating from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge (GO TIGERS!) and going to dental school and pediatric dentistry residency in New Orleans.
Dr. Laura moved to Asheville in 2020 and has fallen in love with the area. She and her family enjoy all the outdoor activities like hiking and biking. Dr. Laura has been married to Charlie, her husband, and a general dentist, for 38 years. They have 4 kids, one boy, and three girls. Dr. Laura is also the “mother” of a chocolate lab named Jackson and the “grandmother” of a mastiff named Atlas.
